Welcome back to the beginning of what proves to be another interesting week in America. I took another long drive to the BOL this past weekend. I’ve been emptying out my storage facility here in Western WA. and moving everything to the BOL to store inside that 2nd cargo container. I wish we had come up with this plan years ago, would have saved us literally many thousands of dollars over the last 10 years… See, I’m obviously not that bright! You may have already come to that conclusion yourself by reading my random thoughts each day?

   Are we approaching game over? I know, what the heck does that even mean? I’m referring to the end of the world as we know it… I hesitate to call it TEOTWAWKI, as this congers up to many images of Mutant Zombie Bikers. The end of the world as we know it may be something much less dramatic, who knows?

 

   I hesitate to even go down this path, especially in writing. With my previous track record of playing chicken little back during the Y2K non-event, I now try to suppress my darkest DOOMER thoughts. It’s better if I just keep those to myself! Yes, by keeping my big pie-hole shut, I would lose out on the whole “I TOLD YOU SO” opportunity but I also would relieve myself of the possibility of looking foolish again! What ta do, what ta do??

 

   Folks, I don’t see how we’re going to avert this train wreck? Can’t you guys feel it too? I can almost hear the screeching brakes and feel the vibrations in the seat as we race toward an unseen intersection at far to great a speed. I pull on the cable to let someone, anyone, know that I want off the ride but it just keeps on going. I try to close my eyes and think optimistic thoughts all while picturing my “Happy Place”. Nothing seems to be working though, only clouds on the horizon for as far as I can see!

 

   Where’s the good news? I really want to know! If someone has some tidbit of positive news to report than please by all means speak up! I watch the news and see nothing to happy about. Is it possible that our leaders don’t see this all unfolding the same way I do? Impossible, this is far to easy to predict… Spending money trying to fix a spending problem? All in the name of getting us back on track to be the worlds first successful “Consumer Economy”…

 

   The citizens of our country and probably the countries of the rest of the world are holding our collective breath, waiting for something to happen. I can’t speak for the rest of the world but we’ve already witnessed the US Auto Industry, Airline Industry, Banking and Real Estate sectors come under government influence if not outright control and that’s just off the top of my head. Consider what you just read… Is this what a free market is made of? Government influenced corporate policies and decisions?

 

  I recall a cute saying I heard once… “America – the land of the free and home of the brave!” Free what, Free enterprise? Freedom to fail or succeed by our own merits? Free what? Can anyone guess what our leaders are using to collateralize the loans they’re taking out? While I’m not a well respected economist, it doesn’t take one to see that it’s our current and future sweat. Quite possibly even our property as well…

 

   Anyone speak Chinese? Don’t misunderstand, I’ve met many individuals of Chinese heritage and they are just as nice as anybody else. However, I don’t know how I would like to be beholden to the Chinese government? Who else do we owe money to? Why would we get to know, it’s only our country and prosperity at stake… Yes, I know the information is available if we the citizens were to dig around a little. Anybody have a shovel?

 

   If any of us had an employee or were an employee for that matter, that was up to as much mischief as the US Government… That’s right we’d fire or be fired. What’s wrong with this picture? We aren’t firing them, election after election we’ re-elect the crew that is running our country into the ground. Is this problem our fault or theirs? Unfortunately this isn’t really the issue – Fault. The issue is we have an economic problem that isn’t going to fix itself and I’ve begun to think it isn’t going to get fixed!

 

   Where’s the jobs that our president has saved or created? If they’re actually there, which I doubt, where did the salaries come from? They would have had to come from the government, right? Where does the government get the money to pay those salaries? Come to think of it where does the government get the money to pay any salaries? Oh, that’s right from the taxes of non-government employees. I say non-government employees because the taxes the government gets from their employees are just a portion of those same tax dollars that were already stolen in the first place.

 

   Unfortunately for us the government wasn’t happy with just our tax dollars, they had to whip out our countries credit card and start running up a tab. Why shouldn’t they, who’s gonna stop them? When we run budget deficits at home, what do we do? We make choices, choices on who’s gettin paid and who isn’t? Is our government going to do this or might they take another approach? The inflation approach… I know this is a simplistic view of the issue and they have already been inflating our money for many years.

 

   This inflation will be different though, the dollar amounts are almost completely unimaginable. I’m not sure that we can even get our minds around these numbers. Also unfortunately, this inflation is our best choice. Make good on our promises to pay with freshly printed money or just fail to pay our creditors and take our chances. I guess that we do still have a large number of nuclear weapons, so who’s going to make us pay?

 

   So, lets just imagine for a few minutes that we decide to welch on our international debt obligations… How’s that gonna turn out? Everyone we owe money to will probably just write off the Trillions of dollars as bad debt and take the tax deduction, right? Wrong, they will attempt to make us liquidate our assets for payment. Why shouldn’t they? Maybe we deserve special treatment, we are Americans remember… Don’t count on it!

 

   What are the assets of the US government? National forests, Parks and a whole lot of land in Nevada… I can see the National forests being used by the Chinese National logging industry but even the Chinese won’t know what to do with Nevada. Sadly, I doubt that our forfeiting our forested land tracks will come close to clearing our global debt markers. I can’t say for sure what we might have to do to satisfy our creditors but I don’t think it will be something we’ll just take in stride…
