Wow! That really blows! I agree with Ranger and Grey.

So, for a bit of good news it is has always been my experience that you learn the most from your mistakes. I bet you NEVER forget the gun again! I too am afraid more crap like this is going to happen as the economy continues to tank.

Hmmm...
Having had intimate experience with the beasts I can tell you without a doubt that it is a local teen punk who probably took yourstuff not to pawn but for HIS (and his buds) personal use. Advertise in the local grocery stores/papers/and High School PTA about you missing electronics. Hopefully you have pictures too. You might (not likely but possible) get the stuff back. But more likely you will at least put a little bit of heat on the punk.
Anyone who leaves any thing un-guarded, no matter how remote you may think it is, will have punks like this find your location. If it is visible it will be looked over for vulnerabilities, if vulnerabilites are found they will be used to gain access. And the punks usually have all the time in the world to break, in explore and search, and pick and choose what they like. Nothing short of steel and concrete will keep them out either, afterall they can get tools, and spend all the time it could ever take. If you can afford it pay for an alarm system of some sort, or at least ask neighbors to make a point of routinely taking a glance at the place. As the economy gets worse expect more and worse break-ins, especially of vacant remote structures.

Thanks Ranger! I figured you'd chime in on this one! I forgot to mention in the post how disappointed the neighbor was... He's an older retired guy and would have loved to get the drop on the scum sucker, he was seriously disappointed!

THAT SUCKS!
I'm not surprised though, all things considered.
If it makes you feel any better,I know it won't, the only thing you did wrong was leaving the gun in the car.
Other than that, there was nothing you could do to totally prevent this.

Items taken and not taken? WEIRD!!
